Immediately online

MomaPIX website activation is almost immediate: in a few minutes you can order a fully functional 30 day free trial account, complete with all the modules needed to start work. During the thirty day trial you can customise your site and become familiar with all the available features and benefits. At any time during the trial you can complete your subscription for a quarterly, six-monthly or yearly membership. When you sign up a member of the MomaPIX team will contact you to establish which domain name you want to use e.g. your own internet domain such as myname.com or a MomaPIX sub-domain like e.g. myname.momapix.com. The trial site is then transferred to the server allocated to the customer.

For annual memberships, domain registration and the related customised email accounts are supplied free of charge by MomaPIX.

Two upload methods

Image upload is done using an all-browser compatible Java applet: a simple copy and paste operation transfers the images to the server. When transfer is complete, the images are archived in two different formats, iconised and indexed in the database. Depending on the information contained in each image's metadata and your MomaPIX website settings, the images are immediately organised into photo series and made available online. Alternatively instead of using the Java applet, you can request ftp access for photo upload.

On-line desk service

Because your MomaPIX website is divided into separate public and private sections and a recycle bin, the authorised photo editor selects which images to publish online: each photographer uploads photos to the private section of the website using their own personal account. Uploaded photos are archived in the normal way but are only visible to users authorised to use the workstation operations in the private section of the site. The photo editor then decides what to publish and what to discard. Discarded photos are placed in the Recycle Bin, from where they can either be retrieved or permanently deleted.

Online Metadata Editing

Using AJAX technology it is possible to edit all the metadata information relating to a photo or photo series directly online. For example, for an authorised user to edit a photo's caption they just click on the caption text and start editing. There is an OK button to confirm the changes made.

Reading image metadata

A specially designed filter enables you to automatically import information that was attached to image files using any of the commonly used image editing tools such as PhotoShop, FotoStation, PhotoMeccanic, iView etc.
